Deb Weinstein was appointed Director, Human Resources, Office of the Chief Medical Officer in January 2007 and is a member of the R&D Human Resources Executive Team. Previously, she was Director, Human Resources World Wide Business Development and Global Commercial Strategy and at the time of the merger, Deb was appointed as Director, Human Resources, World Wide Business Development and Project and Portfolio Management. In these roles, Deb and her international team work with their business groups in aligning their human resource programs, processes, and culture with the strategic focus of the business, in delivering the business results. Deb’s areas of expertise include Executive coaching, Employee Communications, Employee Relations, Compensation, Benefits and Recruitment.
Deb joined GSK in 1993, and has worked with a number of organizations including US Discovery Biology, Biotechnologies and Genetics and Biopharmaceutical Development. Previous client groups included Administration and Operations, Advanced Technologies Group (ATG), Discovery Chemistry and Platform Technology (DCPT) and Anti-Infectives Research. In her various remits she has provided executive coaching/leadership development, organizational effectiveness initiatives, organizational design, competency development, career counseling, performance management, policy interpretation, and other Generalists responsibilities.
Prior to joining GSK, Deb worked in the automotive industry and the broad cast industry, having graduated from Georgetown University, Washington, DC.
Thomas K. Kaney. For over thirty years, Tom has worked in business, academia, healthcare and management consulting in the strategic management of Human Resources and organizational change. Most recently, Tom was Sr. Vice President of Human Resources and Strategic Planning for GlaxoSmithKline, a global Fortune 20 Pharmaceuticals company. In this position, he assisted Glaxo in development of organizational strategy and human resources systems and processes to sustain the company’s market leadership, total quality, and organizational change capabilities. His most significant role, however, was the development and mentoring of Glaxo’s leaders and key talent/future leaders. He is also highly regarded for his innovations in the areas of diversity and women in leadership.
His prior experience includes Vice President, Human Resources, North America Pharmaceuticals and Vice President and Director, Global Human Resources and Organization Development for SmithKline Beecham, PLC where he was responsible for SB's highly successful post-merge integration and global culture renewal, executive and organizational development and learning processes, as well as SB’s culture change and Total Quality Strategy. He also served a Vice President and Director, Human Resources, SmithKline & French Laboratories and Vice President, Human Resources, SK&F Global Research and Development.
Prior to joining GSK, Tom was Director of Human Resources Planning, Development and Compensation at Subaru of America and was a principal consultant with the Hay Group, specializing in merger strategy, HR strategic planning, performance management, leadership development and organizational effectiveness. Tom began his career in healthcare administration on faculty at Hahnemann and Temple Universities.
Tom is a frequent lecturer and author on numerous topics in the fields of leadership, organizational change, and strategic human resources management. He is a member of the Human Resources Council of the Conference Board, former president of the Human Resources Planning Society, and a member of the Executive Advisory Committee for Executive Education at INSEAD University Fontainebleau, France, the Management Committee of Human Issues in Management Conference, as well as several non-profit boards.

Tom holds a BA degree from the Pennsylvania State University and a Masters degree in Organizational Psychology from Antioch College. He resides in Villanova, Pennsylvania with his wife Robin, son, Kevin and daughter, Devan. His interests include skiing, cycling, guitar and vintage car restoration.
