Marcia O’Connor, President

What is your background? 

Currently I am the Founder and President of The O’Connor Group.  My previous experience includes service at Arthur Andersen, Andersen Consulting, Hay Group, Salveson Stetson Group, and Resources Global Professionals. 

I graduated from Widener University with a BS degree in accounting and an MS degree in human organization development from Villanova University.

Where do you live?

King of Prussia, PA

How did you get interested in HR as a field?

A position in recruiting opened up at Arthur Andersen and the rest is history.

What are your responsibilities on the Board? 

Vice President of Committees, basically I oversee the Public Relations, Programming, Leadership Forum and the Community Connections committees

What issues/changes do you see on the horizon for the industry? For the profession??

I believe HR is going to be completely transformed.  I think people in HR need to be very flexible, constantly learning and be able to understand numbers and how they tie into the bottom line.  Companies more than ever are looking for ways to decrease their costs and they will be outsourcing many of their departments in order to do so, including HR.
