What is your background?
I grew up in NJ where I attended undergrad and graduate schools. My career in HR started in NYC in the banking industry where I developed and delivered management development programs. For 18 years I worked for a global management consulting firm where I had internal and external consulting roles, each with a focus on staff/leadership development and talent management. I currently work for AmerisourceBergen, a healthcare drug distribution and specialty company based in Valley Forge, PA. I am married to Monique Seyler, a painter and gallery owner and have two college-age children who are working toward their degrees.
Where do you live? Philadelphia, PA
How did you get interested in HR as a field? It started with my choice of Master’s Program in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. I specialized in Management Development.
What are your responsibilities on the Board? As President, I am charged with continuing to make PHRPS a value-added experience/organization for our members. Working with the Board, we have set strategy together. My job is ensuring that all of our Board Members and their committees are focused on execution of our strategy.
What issues/changes do you see on the horizon for the industry? For the profession??
In many ways the issues on the horizon for HR are constant. They have to do with becoming a business partner with the C level in our organizations, and aligning the resources needed to develop and grow our organizations. Talent management will continue to be a key area, but HR will be challenged in ways they haven’t yet seen to make TM a truly value-added process that gets results.
