2009 Interviewing Skills Workshop
As we plan for the 2008/009 program year, we want to make sure both our new and long-time PHRPS members have an opportunity to participate in the Community Connections signature project, the Interview Skills Workshops for the Philadelphia Academies scheduled between January and March of 2009. This project, now in its 14th year, is a partnership between the Philadelphia Academies, PHRPS, and the PENJERDEL Employee Benefits Association (PEBA).
The product of this enduring partnership is a series of half-day workshops for high school students enrolled in a variety of vocational programs in the Philadelphia school system. The workshops develop students’ skills for effective interviewing with employers. Each workshop is facilitated by 2-3 PHRPS and PEBA volunteers, using a tested and effective training design. All materials and support will be provided to you.
If you have not previously participated in this activity, or would like to volunteer again, we encourage you to do so. The experience is rewarding and fun for the students, facilitators, teachers, and you. It presents a unique opportunity for our members to contribute to the upcoming generation’s transition to the world of work and equip them with an important life skill.
Krista Posada, Resource Broker for Philadelphia Academies, partners with us to handle most of the program’s scheduling and administration.
