2010 Interviewing Skills Workshop
Recognized as one of the Community Connections signature projects, the Interview Skills Workshops provide an opportunity for PHRPS members to help prepare Philadelphia high school students for employment interviews.
This project, now in its 15th year, is a partnership between the Philadelphia Academies Inc., (a not-for-profit created to expand life and economic options for Philadelphia public school students through career-focused programming), PHRPS, and the PENJERDEL Employee Benefits Association (PEBA). The product of this enduring partnership is a series of more than 20 half-day workshops. Each workshop is facilitated by 2-3 PHRPS and 1-2 PEBA volunteers, and uses a tested and effective training design. Materials and training will be provided for you.
If you have not previously participated in this activity, or would like to volunteer again, we encourage you to do so. This program presents a unique opportunity for our members to contribute to the upcoming generation’s transition to the world of work, while equipping them with an important life skill. The experience is rewarding and fun for the students, teachers, and PHRPS members who facilitate the sessions.
Interview skills workshops will be scheduled between January and March of 2010.
We ask that once you sign up, you honor your commitment. We understand that people’s schedules change and request that if you need to cancel at the last minute (within 1-2 weeks of the workshop), that you help us find a replacement for you. We will provide the names and contact information of other volunteers to assist you in finding coverage.
Krista Posada, Resource Broker for Philadelphia Academies, works with us to handle most of the program’s scheduling and administration.
